Habits are behaviours that are repeated regularly, without thinking. They are learned and you may not be aware of them. Addictions are a compulsion to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences. The term is usually reserved for alcohol and drug addictions, but is also sometimes applied to other compulsions such as problem gambling and compulsive overeating. It is suggested that addictions are caused by genetic, biological/pharmacological and social factors. |
