Hypnotherapy for fertility
![]() Infertility can have such a major negative impact on a person's life. Women tend to find it more stressful than men and it is common that women suffer low self-esteem, depression and self blame (Greil, 1997). There is evidence to suggest anxiety may play a role in infertility, due to the interaction between stress, hormones and immunological factors. In fact, research has found that clients with fertility problems became pregnant after seeking hypnosis for other non-related fertility issues e.g. phobias, grief, panic, depression, chronic constipation.
Relaxation and stress management techniques can be used effectively to improve fertility. A common story you will hear is that couples conceive at the point they gave up trying, suggesting relaxation and self-acceptance may play a part. |
treatment
Treatment may involve relaxation and stress management techniques, as well as guided imagery (e.g. imagining your organs are working and fully functional). Hypnotherapy can also be used to tackle any negative emotional states caused by the infertility e.g. anxiety and depression, for managing grief and loss or dealing with relationship problems which may have developed due to the infertility.
Research found that women whom were hypnotised were twice as likely to become pregnant than compared with those who were not (Dr Levitas, 2004). Click here for more details on this research. |
